BURKINA FASO
Is a landlocked country in West Africa around 274,200 square kilometres in size. It is surrounded by: Mali to the north; Niger to the east; Benin to the southeast; Togo and Ghana to the south; and Ivory Coast to the southwest. Its capital is Ouagadougou, their main religions are Islamic and Christianity and the official language is french. In 2014, its population was estimated at just over 17.3 million.

CULTURE
In the culture of Burkina Faso are indigenous masks and dance. The masks are used in the Sahel region of West and are made to rites of sacrifice to the gods and animal spirits in small towns that make up the country. Dance, on the other hand, is used to evoke the wishes of the people for the blessing of the spirits.
LITERATURE
Literature in Burkina Faso is based on oral tradition have influence on local writers after independence in 1960. Some prominent authors are Nazi Boni and Roger Nikiema.
THEATER
The theater of Burkina Faso combines traditional scene set in colonial influences of education of the rural population to create their own theatrical style. Traditional ceremonies of many ethnic groups include dancing with masks.
KITCHEN
The kitchen is typical of West Africa, based on staples such as sorghum, millet, rice, corn, peanuts, potatoes, beans, yams and gombo.
ART AND CINEMA
The Popular Theatre in Ouagadougou, is the center of social and cultural events in the country. The capital is the common place of African cinema and hosts the annual Pan African Film Festival. Also noteworthy Laongo area, granite environment where artists from around the world sculpt the rock.
